In addition to our Christ-centered STREAM approach to instruction, our teachers and staff make us distinctive. They are committed, sacrificial servants who care for and instruct our students. They mentor by modeling a Christian lifestyle. They cultivate character inside and outside of the classroom. Ms. Azeeza Phillips

Early Learning Assistant Director

Ms. Phillips has years of experience in early care and learning instruction and administration. She believes a collaborative staff can promote the development the whole child through developmentally appropriate Christ-centered and child sensitive learning experiences.  She is familiar with national and state health and safety standards and regulations as well as management and administration. Ms. Phillips brings a wealth of experience in early childhood education and is a candidate for the Child Development Associate and Georgia Director's credential. She is excited about working in a Christian setting and completing the Quality Rating and Association of Christian Schools accrediting process.

Ms. Breyana Brooks

Kindergarten Threes 

Lead Teacher

Ms. Brooks comes to us with a love for God, His lambs, and a wealth of experience. She possesses the National Child Development Associate credential and has worked in the field of early childhood education and management roles for 5 years. She is loving and caring. She loves teaching children new things and helping them learn about God and themselves. She believes that God brought her to TSA to impact the students and help her grow as a parent to her two little ones and the one on the way. She believes the best thing about Christian education is she gets to show and share the love of God and we get to learn about God's purpose for creating us.

Mrs. Jennifer Ortega

Lower Elementary

Lead Teacher

Mrs. Ortega holds a Georgia Professional S​standards Commission certificate in elementary education and a Bachelors degree in early Childhood and Elementary Education from Temple University. She has taught 1st grade through high school in various settings. She homeschooled her own children and wants to be used by God to fulfill his Great Commission. She is experienced in Christ-centered curriculum, Classical education, My Father's​ World, ABeka, Saxon, Core Knowledge, and secular curricula. Her goals are to prepare children to fulfill God's purpose, to train their minds academically to prepare for the future, and to promote social and emotional health. She loves children and loves to teach. She and her husband have five children..​

Mrs. Alethia Shelton

Lower Elementary and Middle Grades Instructor

Mrs. Shelton is an enthusiastic educator with a heart for children and a desire to infuse every learning opportunity with color and creativity! She  loves to learn new skills and enjoys challenges. She is a graduate of Brenau University and a certified K-5th grade teacher with two decades of experience as a Title I Tutor, Pre-K Teacher, and Preschool Director. She and her husband, Terence have two sons and a daughter.

Mrs. Jessica Taylor

Mathematics Instructor

Mrs. Taylor has been teaching in various settings for 20 years. She received her B.A. in History from Hiram Colleg​e, continued History and Education coursework at Case Western Reserve University, and has completed the Director's Training for the State of Georgia. S​he works with ESL students during the summer and has completed the TESOL course through The Global Leadership Academy to teach English as a Second Language. She currently offers tutoring & school break camps through her business, Thrive Academics.

She loves all things that pertain to History, but thoroughly enjoys teaching all subjects! She and her husband have the awesome privilege of homeschooling their 3 children. She and her family are devoted followers of Christ at The Faith Church of Atlanta.

Mrs. Deborah Thomas

Upper Elementary and Middle Grades Instructor

Mrs. Thomas holds a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications and Media Studies from West Georgia College. She is a talented writer and editor. She has taught English Grammar and Composition for two decades. She is the proud mother of two beautiful daughters and a son.

Dr. Althea Penn

Executive Director

Dr. Penn has over thirty yea​rs of experience in the field of education. She has served as a prek-12​th grade teacher and administrator in public, Christian, and private school settings. She is a sought after public speaker and intentionally cultivates potential in early educators and students through Christian education strategies. She holds a Doctorate in education, has earned two Masters degrees in Education Administration, certification as an Early Childhood Educator, and the National Administrator Credential. She is also a Child Development Associate Professional Development Specialist for the Council for Professional Recognition's national CDA teacher's credential.tor.  She is married to her best friend and high school sweetheart. They are the parents of two beautiful daughters who have also become certified educators. You can usually find her curled up with a book or hiking a nearby nature trail. 

Ms. Alynthia Penn

Supplemental Instructor

Ms. Penn holds an undergraduate degree in Education from Belhaven University and a graduate degree in Urban Education from Union University. She is state certified and has taught K-12th grade in charter schools, public schools, and international schools. She specializes in technology integration and data driven instruction.

Pastor Emmanuel Mike Penn

Athletic Director

President of the Board

Pastor Penn is certified as a Family Development Specialist by Temple University and Bible teacher by the Evangelical Training Association. He holds a Masters degree in Religious Studies from Beulah Heights University. For the past three decades he has served children and youth as a youth pastor, coach, athletic director, Bible and Health instructor and mentor. He is the founder of Molding Mighty Men, a Christian discipleship​ program for boys 8-13 years of age and the former pastor of Word from Above Ministry. He has served as the recreation coordinator for Briscoe Park for five years and the assistant to the athletic Director at Young Americans Christian School for two years. Pastor Penn is passionate about renewing the minds of youth through instruction in God's Word. He uses athletics as a vehicle to share the gospel and cultivate mature individuals. When he is not working with youth, he and his wife provide marriage counseling and facilitate Kingdom Marriage bible study classes.
